The Andrea Ingenito Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to announce the second solo exhibition (after “Highlights” held in 2019 in Milan) of artist Marco Abbamondi “Earth Breath: il respiro della terra” to be held from 24th November 2022 to 14th January 2023 at our gallery in Naples. The opening will coincide with the beginning of the Art Days Campania 2022, a four-day simultaneous opening of galleries, museums and cultural institutions.
With “Earth Breath”, the artist presents a new cycle of works made with cork and natural pigments, once again affirming his continuous symbiotic research between nature, human and territories. With this new cycle, the cork – one of the most prized in Sardinia – becomes a fundamental support for Abbamondi’s art, which is always evolving and experimenting. The cork is mixed with cement pastes, thus creating an overlap between a natural and a manufactured element. The composition of the cement pastes and the natural pigments spread on the support are a reminder of the fractures that human creates in nature. This constant evolution is also accompanied by the constant search for natural pigments, as well as supports, carefully selected during his travels to Andalusia, Morocco, Brazil and India, where each tone presents its own luminosity, a chromatic contrast that creates harmony between natural and artificial light.
Several works have been chosen to present this new cycle of corks in which the artist emphasises how nature offers itself to human (in this case the artist) in all its forms without allowing itself to be manipulated.
Biography

His works are not only pictorial works, but also sculptures where pigments merge with cement pastes and on wood and cork supports. This is how the series lands classic, which recalls the undulating movement of the earth, lands pure pigment, a composition of natural pigments that create chromatisms and dialogues of light, were born and soon became part of important private Italian (Bulgari collection) and international collections as well as exhibitions at the Reggia di Caserta, Florence, Milan, Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York.
