Pop Art was born in the Sixties by combining art and mass media.
The postwar American culture is crowded and dominated by images that come from cinema, advertising and magazines.
The Image becomes an allegory of a new dimension of everyday life.
The Warhol’s work transformed these new images into Symbols.
The exhibition starts with the Acetates: unique works that represent the stage embryo of Warhol’s creative process.
In fact the artist used this technique as a first step for his serigraphs. Nowadays they are considered as a privileged point for watch the Andy Warhol’s modus operandi.
Among the highlights of the shows the complete folder of eleven serigraphs cover of Flash – November 22, 1963 to 1968, and some charcoal drawings that are a unique opportunity to approach differently to the Warhol’s work: charcoal drawings are in fact very different from the colored paintings, the artist’s symbol, and are more closer to a manual artistic craftsmanship.
Will be featured in the exhibition Uncle Sam dated 1981, some Marilyn, Camouflage, some portraits (all unique pieces), and Vesuvius, 1985, born from the encounter between Warhol and the Neapolitan gallerist Lucio Amelio, opera then become one of the most popular icons of the city.
Some of the works on display in the exhibition will be visible for the whole summer period in Capri, in the central Via Le Botteghe, where, in April, was inaugurated the third branch of the gallery, following Naples and Milan.
