NAPLES 28th MAY – 11st JULY 2022
Andrea Ingenito Contemporary Art Gallery is glad to announce the new exhibition focused on two great artists from the American scene of the ’80s – ’90s. The artists, whose presence is testimoniated by some exhibitions that took place Lucio Amelio’s Gallery, “come back again into the city”. Almost 15 artworks which bring along with them the vitality of the American Graffiti, the American underground and the subway. Even if artistically different they were close each other’s for their appartenance to the State’s figurative revolution, that of the Lower East Side and South Bronx, that world made of spray that give life to the street art and graffiti art and the ones who take on again canvases, colors, and brushes to “refound” painting.
The exhibition aims to highlight the artistic’s shift that they both had as protagonists of their own time, of that visceral revolution, expression of pure rebellion, far from the schemes. They wisely put in evidence the social problems following a vision of art that goes beyond the historicized avant-garde. An event that is able to mark again the return of that lifeblood necessary to overcome the dramatic moment that we are all living.
Art as a new beginning
BIOGRAPHIES
James Brown moulded his works as a primordial forms, tribal figurations, reinterpreted biomorphic humans, a clear influence of Basquiat’s poetic, but abstract geometrics figures as well characterized by the chromatic choice of warm tones and clear contrasts where the viewer is in a constant relation. Flat and bidimensional figures that evoke and cause internal motions. On the other hand, Brown used to realize his artwork from the Concerning the spiritual in art by Kandinsky.
Ronnie Cutrone used a different expressive channel to give voice to his artistic making. Student and assistant at The Factory of Andy Warhol from 1972 to 1980, it is immediate the reference to the artistic field of American Pop Art, current to which will be forever faithful. In his works, with a strong figurative impact, but mainly evocative and provocative, it is clear the reference to the socio-political conditions of his country, all explained through the strong and brilliant tones of the Pop world. Few elements, clear and immediate.
The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11.00 to 19.00
