Yale Epstein a Napoli
AICA | Andrea Ingenito Contemporary Art is pleased to present Yale Epstein in Naples on Thursday May 19 at 7.00 pm , solo show of the American artist Yale Epstein curated by Andrea Ingenito.
The exhibition is part of the project developed by the artist and the curator including Re-Imaging Yale Epstein – solo show with the latest photographic works of Epstein exhibited at the Albert Shahinian Fine Art Gallery in New York last April –, which will be also displayed at the Diocesan Museum of Gaeta in the next months.
For the exhibition have been selected thirty works which summarize the whole career of the artist, talented painter, designer and photographer: from the historical paintings of Landscapes to the recent and innovative photocompositions, some of them coming from New York.
A further selection, which includes both the historical works and the more recent ones, will be exhibited in Hong Kong at the Link Art Fair parallel to the exhibition in Naples.
The artist will also present a valuable edition of engravings realized in collaboration with the renowned Laboratory of Vittorio Avella, result of the travel through Italy in 2012 during which, as Guest of Honor of the American Academy in Rome, Epstein came to Naples.
His paintings are a consideration about the nature, sensual and spiritual at the same time, related by love and attention to the landscape. Skies, trees, marine views come to life through bright chromatic harmonies, transcend the material world to create a new universe of poetry and beauty.
In the photocompositions he combines with great skill shots from different places, and assembles them to form a new image. The re-contextualization of the single photographs transforms the original meaning, creating elements of design parts of a broaden set. The single photographic elements, still remaining perfectly recognizable in every detail, contribute to the creation of the work through complex visual effects of high dynamic balance and elegant chromatic shades.
The result of this research is represented by complementary images, ironically dissonant or deliberately disturbing, in which the re-contextualization and the change of meaning hit the whole image as well as the single elements.
The approach of Yale Epstein to the artistic creation is extremely personal, it involves at the same time the imagination, the relationship with the past and the comparison with the contemporary, searching for the balance between the development of the single work, his inner world and the emotional connection with the viewer.
