Materia/Verba
Luigi Pagano
AICA Andrea Ingenito Contemporary Art is pleased to host the exhibition Materia / Verba by Luigi Pagano, curated by Andrea Ingenito, and a public reading by Marco De Gemmis, Luca Gioacchino Di Bernardo and Enza Silvestrini, on Friday 22 February at 7 pm. They will propose unpublished poetic texts and a critical reading of the works of the artist entrusted to Lorella Starita, an unusual “invitation to observe” for the common distracted inaugurations.
It shows fifteen works highlighting the artist’s journey, attracted by the suggestions of matter and nature, which has accompanied a wide technical experiment a constant evolution in the search for the deep sense of the art.
During his career, Pagano used primary materials such as wax, coal, plant colours, painted canvas on the ground, spraying and throwing colours, painting and leaving the works outdoor, in this way the atmospheric agents participated in the creative process and allowed the real image to emerge from the support.
His works, as living bodies, have been scratched and wounded, born of sheets and papers, have built a plan of emotions through the stratification of the visual dimension and the unconscious, due to the approach to Oriental philosophies. Approaching what the artist calls a “search for brilliance,” that is the state of grace in which light and form, matter and spirit are cancelled to become pure energy.
