“Dialoghi sul colore

“Dialogues on color” is the new exhibition by Andrea Ingenito Galleries, and it will be on view in the Gallery’s Neapolitan spaces.from November 28th to January 11th.
After Renato Guttuso’s great success last year, the gallerist Andrea Ingenito, in collaboration with the cultural Neapolitan association “Il Centro” and Valentino Vago’s Archive, is pleased to announce an exhibition dedicated both to Rocco Borella (Genova, 1920-1994) and to Valentino Vago (Barlassina 1931 – Milano 2018), two of the Italian Abstaction great artists.
First of all they are united by the choice of using color, which is the primary element of their entire compositions. Nevertheless, considering their art from a deeper point of view, it can be said that all the huge stylistic differences that exist put them in an antithetical position, even if the same premises were present, such as considering colorism as a more important artistic act than the preparatory drawing on canvas.
Rocco Borella’s approach to colors is sperimental and rational at the same time: geometric lines of pure colors and light are alternated, creating a strong and well defined chromatic architecture that as been called “Cromemi” by the critic Gianpaolo Barosso.
On the contrary, Valentino Vago, after his young figurative start, painted his works in order to reduce any material’s use, as his personal expressive research focused on the idea of beauty. That was only possible, in his opinion, by representing the pure light. In his artistic path any allusions or symbols about the phenomenical world are forbidden, while everything is about spiritualism.
The exhibition “Dialogues on color” is based on these juxtapositions: about thirty artworks, coming from private and public collections, sum up the authors’ research on colour, generating a compelling discourse on chromatic representations between heart and mind, where Borella’s concreteness meets Vago’s spirituality.
An intense collaboration between the Gallery and Vago’s archive is promoting the legacy of the painter, who are now an important presence at Bocconi University Gallery. Also his artworks will be present, in January, in ArteFiera 2020.
