The trigger of the bullet, corner, distance of shooting: this is the carefully organized ritual that Angelo Brescianini reiterates to create his works.
Guns instead of brushes, and gunshots instead of brush strokes: this is a technique that makes the weapons – born for the offense and the defense – instruments that create works of art and that it is nowadays considered by many critics a real revolution in the art world, making Brescianini a real innovator and his style unique in the world.
Following the last January great success at Arte Fiera Bologna, AICA Andrea Ingenito Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to presents in its two offices in Milan and Naples (respectively, from 17 March to 8 April and from 16 April to 14 May), the exhibition titled “the Angel and the gun”.
The exhibition features twenty sculptures in steel, aluminum and copper “sculpted” in the unique way that distinguishes Brescianini: with bullets.
His accomplishments are true object-paintings where the canvas is moved and shaped thus acquiring evidence plastic and sculptural meaning, often in monochrome tone.
This is a mode of expression that studies the complex relationships between space-light and form.
But Brescianini cannot however be considered as a “estroflessore” like many other artists. He wants and gets the transformation of the support and abandons the canvas for metal sheets.
The artist realizes “immediate works”: the goal is to create works that are born with an equal speed to that an idea comes to his creative mind.
“The work of art created dall’istantaneità conception of the gesture, it is the only true expression of what we want to express in kind”: with these words he explains his work.
“The creation of a work of art comes off to the gesture, it is the only true expression of what we want to express in nature”: with these words Brescianini explains his work.
This is the result of many years of test, errors and experimentations, his works is connected with the well known Lucio Fontana’s cuts and represents an evolution of Niki de Saint Phalle’s ballistic experiences that explores the immediacy of the gesture, exploding his shots on bags full of colours.
None of the Brescianini’s colleagues, however, was able to enclose and convey the light in the surface. in this cold sheet the artist conveys the light, trapped on a glossier and smoother surface.
